Muslim Names Ignored Again For Council Polls

A section of Muslim leaders has slammed the Congress and its MVA allies for not nominating a single Muslim for the MLC polls. This will be perhaps the first time the upper house will be without a Muslim member. Many had hoped one among Wajahat Mirza, Arif Naseem Khan and Muzaffar Hussain would get nominated

Shoaib Khatib, trustee of Juma Masjid of Bombay Trust, is angry at Congress . “For the so-called secular parties, Muslims are just voters and do not deserve to share power. Muslims must stop voting them en bloc,” said Khatib, who fought the LS poll from Mumbai South on a BSP ticket. State Congress vice-president Zakir Ahmed said non-nomination has sent out a wrong message. —Mohammed Wajihuddin
